Tee Drums Key Shells.
Introducing our key shells... Mahogany, Maple, Birch.
For over a decade we have been developing and building drum shells. Starting working with Maple in the traditional all horizontal construction method and then developing the vertical grain Birch shell. We are pleased to offer a range of shells for all applications.
African Mahogany is the softest of our woods. Our construction for this shell to maximise tonal range and projection is to alternate the ply directions (horizontal. vertical and so on right through the shell). The shell produces a low end tone with less volume than the Maple and Birch. Shells come in 100% Mahogany or we can add some vertical grain Birch ply to increase the volume and projection, This is something that we may recommend for a Bass Drum.
is Todays most popular shell in modern drums. We have developed a Maple shell which offers that classic Maple sound but with a wider tonal range and projection by alternating the ply directions (horizontal, vertical and so on).
The sound from this shell is a mid to high but a cleaner sound than the full horizontal shell.
Vertical grain Birch our most popular shell as it has a great tuning range from low to high (making incredibly easy tuning). We use the finest Birch from Finland for all shells, the colder Finnish climate makes a harder wood offering a cleaner and brighter sound but is still capable of producing a great punchy low end.
All shell are produced in house So we are able to offer mixed wood shells like Mahogany/Birch... Mahogany producing the darker/warmer sound and the vertical grain Birch offering the projection and mid/top tuning range when tuned up.
